The Director General of Taxes (DJP), Bimo Wijayanto, has urged taxpayers to activate their Coretax accounts, as approximately 7 million taxpayers remain inactive. The Coretax system is crucial for tax administration, including the submission of tax returns, which must be filed by March 31, 2026. As of now, only 7.7 million taxpayers have activated their accounts, representing 51.66% of the total taxpayer base.
Bimo Wijayanto highlighted that merely 4.8 million taxpayers have generated authorization codes and electronic certificates, accounting for 32.38% of the total. The DJP conducted two trial runs for the Coretax system. The first trial, involving around 25,000 DJP employees, was conducted in November 2025 and was deemed successful despite initial minor delays. The second trial showed significant improvements over the previous period, boosting confidence in the system's readiness for the upcoming tax filing season.
The Coretax system represents a significant step in modernizing Indonesia's tax reporting infrastructure.
