Alimov brings over 28 years of professional experience to his new role, including 23 years with ADB. His background includes serving as an economist and holding various key positions within the bank, including roles in the Southeast Asia Department and Central and West Asia Department. Most recently, he served as Advisor in the East Asia Department, contributing to strategic planning and implementation.
As Director, Alimov will lead ADB's operations in Indonesia, strengthening collaboration with the government, development partners, and the private sector. He will oversee the implementation of the new Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) 2025-2029, which was recently approved by ADB. This strategy is designed to support Indonesia's development goals, focusing on achieving faster, more inclusive, and sustainable growth.
The new CPS will guide ADB's support for Indonesia across various development priorities. Alimov emphasized that Indonesia is a key driver of growth and innovation in the region. He expressed his eagerness to deepen the strong partnership between ADB and Indonesia to support the country's development objectives and promote inclusive and sustainable economic progress for all Indonesians.
Before joining ADB in 2002, Alimov taught International Trade and Mathematical Economics at the University of Connecticut, where he also earned his doctoral and master's degrees in economics. His extensive experience includes serving as Environmental Economist in Indonesia and Project Administration Unit Head in the Kyrgyz Republic. His leadership in ADB's transformation agenda and various strategic initiatives positions him well to guide ADB's operations in Indonesia.
