The Indonesian bottled water industry has experienced rapid growth with a market value of tens of trillions of rupiah and an average annual growth rate of 5-8%. The industry now comprises 707 manufacturing plants producing over 2,000 brands with a total production capacity of 47 billion liters per year. Despite its growth, the industry faces complex challenges including mandatory SNI implementation, public perception about water resource management, and regulations regarding BPA migration in packaging.
The Ministry of Industry has welcomed AMDATARA's establishment, with Director of Beverage Industry, Merrijantij Punguan Pintaria, expressing hope that the association will play a strategic role in synergizing industry players with government policies. The ministry recognizes the industry's significant multiplier effect on other sectors such as transportation, retail, and various supporting industries. AMDATARA is expected to address industry challenges while promoting sustainable practices and competitiveness in the global market.
