The Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (Apkasi) has strongly urged the central government to issue implementing regulations for the new Village Law (UU No. 3/2024). During a Public Hearing with the Regional Legislative Body (BULD) of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI), Apkasi representatives emphasized that the lack of central government regulatory support is currently the main obstacle to harmonizing Regency regulations on village governance.
Apkasi's Deputy Secretary General, Riza Herdavid, highlighted that while most regencies have initiated revisions to their regional regulations to align with the new Village Law, the process has stalled midway. The new law, which was enacted to improve village governance and development, requires comprehensive implementing regulations to be effectively implemented at the regional level.
The Public Hearing included various stakeholders, including experts in village governance, representatives from Apkasi, and leaders of village associations. Their discussions focused on the urgent need for clear implementing regulations to facilitate the harmonization of regional regulations and ensure effective implementation of the new Village Law.
