Bank Indonesia has released its comprehensive schedule for the Board of Governors Meetings (RDG) throughout 2026, reinforcing its commitment to transparency in monetary policy formulation. The central bank's Executive Director, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, emphasized that this practice is part of BI's efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in executing its duties.
The monthly RDG sessions will be conducted over two consecutive days, forming an integral part of BI's decision-making process. The first day focuses on evaluating current economic conditions, financial system stability, and payment systems, while integrating various policy options. On the second day, the Board members finalize and determine monetary, macroprudential, and payment system policies as a comprehensive package.
The Governor of Bank Indonesia will lead a press conference on the second day of the RDG, primarily to announce the benchmark interest rate (BI Rate) and other monetary policy decisions. This press conference also includes a Q&A session with media representatives, allowing for clarification on current issues and policy directions.
The implementation of regular RDG meetings is governed by Law No. 23/1999 on Bank Indonesia, as amended by Law No. 4/2023. These regulations mandate that the RDG must convene at least once a month to establish general monetary policy directions.
By publishing the 2026 RDG schedule in advance, Bank Indonesia demonstrates its commitment to policy predictability and market transparency. This forward-looking approach helps financial market participants prepare for key monetary policy announcements and understand the central bank's policy stance throughout the coming year.
