This strategic partnership focuses on providing comprehensive sharia banking services for hajj pilgrims, marking a major development in Indonesia's religious finance sector.
The MoU encompasses several critical areas: opening accounts for hajj and umrah deposits, managing pilgrim registration data, handling cancellations, and facilitating final payments. Bank Jatim's Sharia Business Unit has been designated as a trusted BPS BPIH (Bank Penerima Setoran Biaya Perjalanan Ibadah Haji), a role that underscores its capability in managing hajj funds.
The partnership aims to ensure transparent and professional management of hajj funds. Tonny Prasetyo, Director of Micro Business, Retail, and Sharia Business at Bank Jatim, emphasized that this collaboration would provide added value to prospective hajj pilgrims and support the successful execution of hajj operations annually. The agreement represents a renewal of cooperation, adapting to the recent establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as a separate entity from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
To facilitate younger generations in preparing for hajj, Bank Jatim's Sharia Business Unit offers the Tabungan Haji iB Amanah product. This sharia-compliant savings account in IDR currency utilizes a Mudharabah Mutlaqah contract and provides ease in obtaining hajj registration numbers through its online integration with Siskohat (Sistem Informasi Komputerisasi Haji Terpadu).
Irfan Yusuf, Minister of Hajj and Umrah, highlighted that the appointed BPS BPIH banks, including Bank Jatim, would be responsible for receiving initial and final hajj payments while managing pilgrims' savings accounts. He stressed the importance of sharia principles in managing hajj funds, ensuring compliance with Islamic financial regulations.
