PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) strengthened its commitment to advancing education in Indonesia by supporting the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Festival at SDN 35 Kota Sorong, Papua Barat Daya. The event, themed "Unggul Dalam Karakter dan Literasi Sains" (Excelling in Character and Scientific Literacy), featured various exhibitions of STEM projects developed by students throughout the year.
The festival showcased diverse and innovative projects, including a 60 m2 nutritional garden containing fruit trees, vegetables, and medicinal plants. Other notable projects included Smart Eco Hydroponic 35, automated flood alarms, electricity-free fans, and simple composters. These projects demonstrated students' ability to address real-world environmental issues through creative solutions.
During the event, BCA also inaugurated a Learning Resource Room at SDN 35 Sorong, providing 15 laptops to support digital learning implementation. This initiative is part of BCA's broader effort to enhance educational infrastructure and promote digital literacy among students and teachers.
The STEM Festival included workshops and presentations on STEM curriculum development, project planning, and implementation strategies. These sessions provided teachers with practical examples, module templates, and best practices from other schools to develop structured and sustainable STEM programs. The training aimed to enable Sekolah Bakti BCA teachers to disseminate their expertise to 100 other teachers in Sorong.
As of September 2025, BCA supported 11 other Sekolah Bakti BCA locations across Bengkulu, Kalimantan Timur, and Nusa Tenggara Timur. By early 2025, BCA had successfully handed over 20 Sekolah Bakti BCA to local education authorities in Lampung, Serang, Gunung Kidul, and Banyuwangi. These schools showed significant improvement based on BCA's assessment using National Assessment indicators.
Through initiatives like the STEM Festival, BCA aims to equip students with essential skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, digital literacy, and critical thinking. By fostering a creative and inclusive learning environment, BCA remains committed to creating a positive impact on future generations.
