The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has announced plans to significantly enhance the quality of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) as part of the government's Free Nutrition Meal (MBG) program starting in 2026. According to BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, the agency will shift its focus from the initial massive rollout in 2025 to improving service delivery and nutritional education.
Beginning January 8, 2026, the MBG program will directly serve over 55 million beneficiaries, marking a substantial expansion of the nutrition initiative. The program will not only focus on nutritional intervention but also on strengthening nutrition education to help the public make informed choices about healthy and nutritious food.
Dadan explained that throughout 2025, BGN concentrated on building the foundational systems and operational readiness for MBG. When the program was launched on January 6, 2025, it initially served approximately 570,000 beneficiaries through 190 SPPG units. The successful establishment of this foundation will enable the planned quality enhancements in the coming year.
