BNI Provides Trauma Healing for Children Affected by Floods in Aceh Tenggara

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) (Persero) Tbk is providing critical support to children affected by the recent flash floods in Leuser Village, Aceh Tenggara, through its trauma healing initiative. This program is part of BNI's broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, known as 'BNI Berbagi', which focuses on comprehensive post-disaster recovery. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with other state-owned enterprises (BUMN) under the 'Satu Hati untuk Sumatera' program, coordinated by Danantara.

BNI's Corporate Secretary, Okki Rushartomo, emphasized that the bank views post-disaster recovery as a holistic process that must address both physical reconstruction and the mental well-being of affected communities, particularly children. The trauma healing services are designed to create a safe and supportive environment where children can engage in positive interactions, express their emotions, and gradually rebuild their confidence through play-based therapy, art, and social interaction.

Implementation and Future Plans

The trauma healing program is being executed at the BUMN Volunteer Post in Leuser Village, involving experienced facilitators trained in working with children affected by disasters. Activities include simple group games, singing, and movement exercises, all aimed at creating a nurturing atmosphere that supports psychological recovery. BNI plans to expand this initiative to other locations in Aceh Tenggara, Aceh Utara, and Aceh Tamiang, demonstrating its commitment to inclusive and sustainable recovery efforts for disaster-affected communities.
