BRI Launches Comprehensive Disaster Relief Efforts for Sumatra Flood Victims

Swift Response to Natural Disaster

Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has quickly responded to the severe flooding that hit multiple regions in Sumatra, including North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh, starting on November 24, 2025. Through its corporate social responsibility initiative, BRI Peduli, the bank has been actively distributing disaster relief aid to affected communities. The floods have caused significant damage, resulting in landslides, loss of life, and displacement of residents.

Tailored Relief Efforts Across Affected Regions

In North Sumatra, specifically in Tapanuli Selatan, BRI distributed aid consisting of thousands of instant food packages, mineral water, basic necessities, and medical supplies. The aid was delivered directly by BRI employees through nearby BRI work units to villages such as Desa Sialang, Desa Silaiya, Desa Bange, and Desa Sipange. In West Sumatra, particularly in Padang, BRI provided rubber boats with life jackets which were channeled through the local disaster management agency (BPBD) Posko Bencana. Additionally, thousands of instant food packages were distributed in Lubuk Minturun, Kec. Koto Tangah. The relief efforts were carried out by BRI's emergency response team, 'Tim Elang Relawan BRI', along with local BRI staff.

Commitment to Community Support

BRI's Corporate Secretary, Dhanny, emphasized the bank's commitment to supporting communities affected by natural disasters. "BRI is committed to providing assistance to disaster victims to alleviate their burden," Dhanny stated. The bank continues to work closely with various stakeholders to ensure effective distribution of aid and support recovery efforts in the affected regions. This initiative underscores BRI's dedication to being an active corporate citizen through its BRI Peduli program, which has consistently supported communities during times of crisis.
