PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BRIS) has introduced a comprehensive relief measure for flood victims in Aceh by establishing a special currency exchange service for damaged banknotes. This initiative follows the restoration of 145 bank branches that were affected by the recent floods, ensuring that all banking services are operational.
The currency exchange service is available at all BSI outlets in Aceh, allowing affected individuals to exchange water-damaged currency for valid legal tender or restore their savings accounts. The process is conducted transparently and in compliance with Bank Indonesia regulations, including physical verification of the damaged currency and proper identification of customers.
BSI's financial performance remains robust despite the challenges posed by the natural disaster. As of November 2025, the bank reported a net profit of Rp6.70 trillion, representing an 8.20% year-on-year growth from Rp6.20 trillion in the same period last year. The bank's revenue after distribution of profit sharing stood at Rp18.70 trillion, marking a 12.57% YoY increase from Rp16.61 trillion in November 2024.
In addition to the currency exchange service, BSI has been actively engaged in recovery efforts in Aceh. These include the cleaning of mud residue from branch premises, reactivation of telecommunication networks, and distribution of over 140 tons of logistics assistance. The bank has also initiated the construction of temporary housing (Huntara) for affected communities, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the region's recovery.
