The total cost for the Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) is set at Rp 87,409,365.45. However, the amount payable by pilgrims varies by embarkation point, ranging from Rp 45,109,422 for Aceh embarkation to Rp 60,645,422 for Surabaya embarkation. BSI is well-positioned to serve the pilgrims as 83% of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are BSI customers. Specifically, 164,319 BSI customers are eligible for Phase I payment, representing 81.5% of total Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. Geographically, most eligible customers are from East Java, Central Java, and West Java.
BSI has strengthened its digital transaction security to protect customer data and funds. The bank is also conducting education campaigns through various channels, including official communications, social media, and its call center (BSI Call 14040), to inform customers about the payment process and required documents. One key requirement for this year's payment is the 'surat istitoah' from local health centers, which pilgrims must obtain before making payments. BSI is also promoting the use of 'kartu mabrur' for safer transactions during the pilgrimage, allowing pilgrims to withdraw cash at ATMs in Saudi Arabia or make transactions using debit or credit cards.
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has been actively coordinating with Saudi authorities regarding the preparations for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. The ministry is working to ensure that 100% of eligible Indonesian pilgrims can depart for Hajj. BSI's efforts are aligned with the government's objectives, given its dominant position among Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
