Bulog Strengthens Rice Supply in Sumatra Amid Natural Disasters

Emergency Rice Shipment to Padang

Perum Bulog is taking decisive action to address the dwindling rice stock in Padang, West Sumatra, by dispatching 20,000 tons of rice to the disaster-affected region ¹

. The shipment aims to bolster Padang's rice stock from the current 5,000 tons to 25,000 tons, ensuring food security in the area. Bulog's Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, assured that the stock would be sufficient to meet the needs of the affected population.

Rice Distribution in Other Affected Areas

In contrast to Padang, other disaster-affected regions such as Aceh and North Sumatra have been reported to have ample rice stocks. Aceh alone has 82,000 tons of rice stored in Bulog warehouses, which is considered sufficient for the local population ¹

Progress in SPHP Rice Distribution

As of December 2025, Bulog has made significant progress in its Stabilisasi Pasokan dan Harga Pangan (SPHP) rice distribution program, having distributed 897,000 tons of rice out of a targeted 1.5 million tons for the year ²

. The successful distribution is attributed to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the TNI, Polri, and local governments.
