Perum Bulog's CEO Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani has confirmed that the rice stock in the company's warehouses across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra remains safe despite the severe flooding affecting several districts in these regions. The current stock levels are reported as follows: 800,000 tons in Aceh, 920 tons in North Sumatra, and 400,000 tons in West Sumatra.
Rizal acknowledged that one Bulog warehouse in Sibolga, North Sumatra was affected by the floods. However, he emphasized that the floodwater only reached a height of about 10-15 cm inside the warehouse, which stored approximately 1,000 tons of rice. The water has since been pumped out, and the rice stock has been dried, ensuring that the quality remains unaffected.
With the stock levels deemed sufficient and secure, Bulog has initiated relief efforts by dispatching 1,245 tons (1,245,255 kilograms) of rice aid to the flood-affected areas. This proactive measure aims to support the communities impacted by the natural disaster.
The swift response and assurance from Bulog regarding the safety of their rice stock amid the natural calamity have been crucial. The company's ability to maintain stock integrity while providing timely aid reflects its critical role in ensuring food security during emergencies.
