Bulog Rice Distribution Falls Short of Government Target

Perum Bulog has distributed 897,000 tons of rice through its Stabilisasi Pasokan dan Harga Pangan (SPHP) program as of the latest reporting period ¹

. This achievement represents only 59.8% of the government's target of 1.5 million tons for the current year. Despite efforts to ramp up distribution through partnerships with various stakeholders, including food stalls collaborated with TNI Polri, the state-owned enterprise faces challenges in reaching the ambitious target set by the government.

Flood Impact and Agricultural Resilience

Recent floods in Sumatra affected 70,000 hectares of rice fields across three provinces in Aceh and Sumatra ²

. However, according to Bulog's management, this damage is not expected to significantly impact next year's rice absorption. The Ministry of Agriculture reported that while the floods caused substantial damage, the overall operational agricultural land remains extensive enough to compensate for the losses. Bulog's Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, emphasized that the damaged area constitutes only a fraction of the total operational agricultural land, thus not posing a significant threat to their operations.

Despite this year's shortfall, Bulog remains committed to its rice distribution mandate.
