Emergency Bridge Opens in Aceh, Restoring Access to Banda Aceh

Rapid Construction Restores National Connectivity

The Krueng Tingkeum emergency bridge in Bireuen Regency, Aceh, has been officially opened to restore access to Banda Aceh following severe disruptions caused by flash floods on November 27, 2025. The bridge's construction was completed in just 18 days, from December 9 to December 27, 2025, through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Public Works and PT Adhi Karya (Persero), with support from the Indonesian Army's Kodam Iskandar Muda.

Technical Specifications and Operational Limitations

As an emergency panel bridge, there are specific operational limitations that road users must adhere to. The bridge has a maximum load capacity of 30 tons and a vertical clearance of four meters due to its positioning above the existing bridge structure. These restrictions are crucial for maintaining the structural integrity of the temporary bridge.

Collaborative Effort and Community Involvement

The successful completion of this project demonstrates effective cross-sector collaboration. The construction process involved not only government agencies but also state-owned enterprises and military resources. The bridge was inaugurated through a traditional ceremony called 'peusijuek' led by Abu Jafar from Dayah Nurul Fata Tingkeum Manyang on December 27, 2025.
