GoPay has reported significant traction with Bank Indonesia's QRIS Tap feature, recording tens of thousands of transactions weekly. This NFC-based payment technology, launched by BI in March 2025, allows users to make payments by simply tapping their phones on compatible QRIS readers. The feature has been integrated into the GoPay application, particularly for public transportation services, as part of BI's broader initiative to enhance digital payment infrastructure in Indonesia.

Key Features and Benefits

QRIS Tap represents a significant advancement in digital payments by eliminating the need to scan QR codes. Users can make seamless transactions by opening their GoPay app, selecting QRIS, and tapping their NFC-enabled phones on payment terminals. This technology is currently available for major transportation services in Jabodetabek, including KRL Commuter Line, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, MRT Jakarta, and TransJakarta. The feature is also being expanded to other sectors such as parking, retail, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).

Strategic Partnership and Future Plans

Sudhanshu Raheja, President Director of GoTo Financial, emphasized GoPay's commitment to supporting BI's vision for digital payment transformation as outlined in the Blueprint Sistem Pembayaran Indonesia (BSPI) 2030. The company is working closely with BI to promote the adoption of QRIS Tap, with current promotional offers including 100% cashback (up to 14,000 GoPay Coins) for transportation payments made through the feature.

As of now, GoPay processes tens of thousands of QRIS Tap transactions weekly, demonstrating strong user adoption.
