PT Hutama Karya (Persero), a state-owned construction company, is expediting the development of Huntara (Hunian Sementara or temporary housing) in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh. This initiative is part of the post-disaster recovery efforts following severe flooding and landslides in the region. The construction project involves collaboration between seven state-owned construction enterprises under the Danantara consortium.
The construction is being carried out on a 24/7 basis with shifting work patterns to ensure timely completion. Enhanced quality control measures are being implemented to guarantee that the housing units meet the required standards. As of December 29, 2025, the progress is focused on critical structural elements including foundation work, roof framing, wall framing, and installation of doors and windows.
Each Huntara unit is designed with dimensions of 4.5 meters x 4.5 meters, providing adequate space for displaced families. The housing layout is configured to accommodate basic needs during their temporary stay. In addition to the individual units, the development includes communal facilities such as shared kitchens, washing areas, mosques, and sanitation facilities. Essential utilities like electricity and water supply installations are also being prepared to make the housing functional.
Beyond the Huntara project, Hutama Karya is contributing to the overall recovery efforts in the affected areas. This includes infrastructure rehabilitation such as the restoration of clean water facilities through the operation of the Rantau Water Treatment Plant, which has been restored to its normal capacity of 40 liters per second. The company is also involved in clearing debris using heavy equipment like excavators in areas such as the Pesantren Darul Muklisin in Tanjung Karang, Aceh Tamiang.
Hutama Karya is also working on restoring connectivity in the disaster-affected regions by rehabilitating critical bridges. Notable projects include the reconstruction of the Lawe Mengkudu Bridge with a span of 36 meters and the Penanggalan Bridge with a span of 48 meters in Kutacane, Aceh Tenggara. These infrastructure projects are crucial for facilitating the movement of people and distribution of logistics in the affected areas.
The construction and rehabilitation activities are being carried out with a strong emphasis on workplace safety and coordination with local authorities. This ensures that the recovery efforts are not only effective but also targeted to meet the actual needs of the affected communities.
