Hutama Karya Restores Critical Infrastructure in Aceh Tenggara

Rapid Installation of Bailey Bridges

PT Hutama Karya (Persero), a state-owned enterprise, has successfully completed the installation of two critical Bailey bridges in Aceh Tenggara, Aceh Province. The bridges, located at Mengkudu and Penanggalan, were installed to restore connectivity and support the region's recovery efforts following recent disasters. The Mengkudu bridge was completed on December 23, 2025, after 15 days of work, while the Penanggalan bridge was finished on December 28, 2025, within 6 days.

Technical Specifications and Capacity

The Mengkudu bridge measures 36 meters in length, 3.7 meters in effective width, and has a truss height of 2.4 meters. It can support vehicles with a maximum load capacity of 40 tons, facilitating the passage of logistics trucks. The Penanggalan bridge is 48 meters long, with the same effective width of 3.7 meters but a higher truss height of 3.25 meters. Both bridges are designed to withstand significant loads, ensuring the continuity of logistics and transportation in the affected areas.

Impact on Local Community and Logistics

The restoration of these bridges is vital for the local community as it re-establishes a critical transportation link between Kutacane and Blangkejeren. The bridges support daily activities and the distribution of essential supplies during the recovery phase. According to Mardiansyah, Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, the restoration of the Lintas Tengah road section will significantly enhance mobility and logistics distribution during the emergency response and recovery phases.

Additional Infrastructure Works

In addition to the bridge installations, Hutama Karya has undertaken other infrastructure works to improve connectivity and support the affected communities. These include the repair of embankments, diversion of river flows around the Natam Bridge area to prevent future disruptions, and the normalization of river channels at Simpur Jaya to facilitate smoother water flow and accelerate the clearance of debris brought by floods. The company has also opened new access roads on the Kutacane-Gayo Lues route and cleared mud and landslides on the Ketambe and Naga Kesiangan access roads.

Operational Efficiency and Resources

Hutama Karya deployed significant resources to ensure the timely completion of these projects. The company utilized a 50-ton crane and excavators, supported by a team of 10 personnel working in 12-hour shifts. This operational efficiency was crucial in meeting the tight deadlines for the bridge installations and other infrastructure works.
