Green Energy and Innovation Drive Production Growth

PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM), operating since 1976 in North Sumatra, continues to play a crucial role in Indonesia's aluminium industry. The company's strategic use of green energy from hydroelectric power plants on the Asahan River has provided a competitive edge while supporting conservation efforts. INALUM's commitment to sustainability is evident in its reforestation program, having planted over 871,000 trees across more than 2,200 hectares in 2024.

Technological Advancements and Production Capacity

INALUM's dedication to innovation is reflected in its annual Technology Innovative Seminar (TIS), where employees develop ideas that directly impact operations. Recent innovations include the implementation of Robotic Servo Arm for workplace safety and upgrading Potline areas, which has increased production by approximately 110 tons of molten metal per smelter per year. The company achieved an all-time high production in 2024, reaching 275,000 tons of aluminium annually.

Future Plans and Expansion

Looking ahead, INALUM is targeting further technological upgrades to boost production capacity to 450,000 tons per year. The 2025 TIS, which featured 166 participants, continues to drive innovation across the organization. With a workforce of nearly 4,000 employees, of which 80% are local residents, INALUM maintains a strong community connection while driving industrial growth.

The company's sustainability efforts extend beyond production to include comprehensive environmental conservation. INALUM has implemented significant water-saving measures, achieving 35 million cubic meters of water savings annually through turbine modifications at its hydroelectric plants. This commitment to green practices positions INALUM as a leader in sustainable industrial operations in Indonesia.
