Key insights and market outlook
The Indonesian Ministry of UMKM and KADIN West Kalimantan have formed a strategic collaboration to enhance regional export capabilities by optimizing local commodities such as kratom, arwana fish, and coconut products. This partnership aims to elevate UMKM products to global standards and drive economic growth through export development programs and commodity optimization.
The Indonesian Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) has formed a significant partnership with the West Kalimantan chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). This collaboration focuses on strengthening regional export capabilities by optimizing local commodities that have the potential to compete globally.
The region's economic potential is largely centered around local commodities such as kratom, arwana fish, coconut products, aloe vera, and their derivatives. According to Minister Maman Abdurrahman, these commodities can become significant drivers of export growth when managed properly. The minister emphasized that with the right development strategies, these local products can penetrate global markets effectively.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to elevate UMKM products to international standards through comprehensive export development programs. The initiative includes organizing workshops and training sessions to enhance the quality and competitiveness of local products. The program was launched during a workshop held in Pontianak on November 22, 2025, which brought together stakeholders from both government and private sectors.
This strategic partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the regional economy by creating new opportunities for UMKM players to access global markets. The focus on commodity optimization is likely to stimulate local economic activities, increase export revenues, and contribute to overall economic growth in West Kalimantan.
