The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has assured that Indonesia's egg supply is secure and abundant for the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations. Maino Dwi, Director of Supply Stabilization and Food Prices at Bapanas, stated that egg availability is a government priority, particularly during major religious holidays when demand typically surges.
According to Bapanas's projections, egg production is expected to reach 544.4 thousand tons in December, sufficient to meet consumption needs. When including the carryover stock from November amounting to 111.1 thousand tons, the total availability is projected to be 655.5 thousand tons. This comprehensive projection was developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The government is closely monitoring the situation as egg is a critical commodity, especially during Nataru when many households purchase eggs for baking. Maino Dwi emphasized that while there is a typical increase in demand during such periods, the current supply is considered safe and sufficient.
This assurance of egg supply stability is crucial for maintaining food security and price stability during the holiday season. The government's proactive approach in monitoring and projecting food supplies demonstrates its commitment to managing essential commodities effectively.
