Government Preparations for Stable Power Supply

The Indonesian government has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure a stable electricity supply during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, confirmed that the national electricity system is operating normally with primary energy reserves exceeding 10 days ¹

Regional Focus: Nias Island Preparations

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka conducted an inspection of the Gunungsitoli Gas Engine Power Plant in Nias, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot. The visit focused on ensuring the reliability of the power generation system and its supporting infrastructure, particularly important for island regions vulnerable to extreme weather conditions ²

Power Infrastructure Details

The PLTMG Gunungsitoli has an installed capacity of 5 x 6.9 MW, serving as the backbone of Nias's electricity system. Yuliot confirmed that the power plant is operating optimally with sufficient power surplus to meet potential spikes in consumption during Nataru. The government has also ensured the availability of primary energy sources, including gas and fuel reserves ²

Post-Disaster Recovery Progress

Regarding the electricity recovery efforts in Sumatra Utara following recent natural disasters, Yuliot reported that out of 554,048 affected customers, 541,678 have had their electricity restored. The remaining customers are awaiting access restoration due to landslides rather than power generation capacity issues. The Disaster Response Team of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, along with PLN, continues to work on access restoration and network repairs ²
