Automotive experts from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have confirmed that E10 is safe for use in modern vehicles equipped with injection technology, particularly those manufactured from 2010 onwards. Yannes Martinus Pasaribu, an ITB automotive expert, stated that E10 not only maintains vehicle performance but also enhances octane ratings and reduces CO emissions. The compatibility of modern vehicles with E10 is attributed to advancements in materials used for fuel systems and engine calibration.
To support the E10 implementation, the government is focusing on developing ethanol production infrastructure. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, announced that the preparation of ethanol factories using sugarcane and cassava as raw materials is underway. This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to strengthen national energy independence through the development of a domestic ethanol industry.
Pertamina, Indonesia's state-owned oil company, has expressed its commitment to supporting the government's E10 plans. Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Pertamina's CEO, highlighted that the company is preparing the necessary technical and infrastructural adjustments to ensure a smooth transition to E10 fuel. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to assess and optimize the implementation process.
