The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) is set to establish a dedicated Law Enforcement Center to enhance its enforcement capabilities against quarantine violations. The decision comes as part of a broader effort to restructure the organization's internal framework 1
The new center will consolidate various law enforcement functions currently dispersed across different directorates within Barantin. These functions include intelligence gathering, special police powers, and civil servant investigators (PPNS). As explained by Hudiansyah Is Nursal, Head of Legal and Public Relations Bureau at Barantin, the existing regulations already provide a legal basis for these three main law enforcement functions 2
The need for a consolidated law enforcement center is highlighted by Barantin's recent enforcement statistics. Between January and October 2025, the agency handled 4,998 cases related to quarantine violations. The breakdown includes 1,891 detention cases, 2,145 rejection cases, and 962 destruction cases 3
As an initial step, Barantin has formed an Ad Hoc Task Force for Law Enforcement to coordinate existing enforcement functions. The agency is currently in the process of formalizing the establishment of the Law Enforcement Center through a proposal to be submitted to the Ministry of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) 1
