Government Accelerates Nuclear Energy Plans

The Indonesian government is moving forward with its nuclear energy plans by establishing a task force to accelerate the development and operation of a Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN). This task force will serve as Indonesia's NEPIO (Nuclear Energy Programme Implementation Organization), a crucial step towards implementing nuclear energy according to international standards.

Existing Mechanisms Can Be Strengthened

Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform, Rini Widyantini, emphasized that the formation of this task force doesn't necessarily require creating a new institution or agency. Instead, it can be achieved by strengthening or establishing mechanisms that are already in place. This approach aims to streamline the process and avoid unnecessary bureaucratic complexities.

Comprehensive Coordination for Nuclear Energy

The NEPIO will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects related to nuclear energy development are properly coordinated. This includes regulatory frameworks, safety measures, funding mechanisms, infrastructure readiness, and human resource development. The government is committed to adhering to international standards in implementing nuclear energy programs, ensuring both safety and efficiency.
