Affordable Connectivity for Underserved Communities

The Indonesian government is set to launch its ambitious 'Internet Rakyat' (People's Internet) program in 2026, aiming to provide high-speed unlimited internet access at an affordable price point of Rp 100,000 (approximately $6.50 USD) per month. This initiative represents a significant effort to bridge the digital divide by connecting non-urban areas that currently lack proper internet infrastructure.

Implementation Timeline and Geographic Coverage

The rollout of the Internet Rakyat program is scheduled to occur in stages throughout the first half of 2026, specifically between January and June. The initial phase will focus on three major regions in Indonesia, with subsequent phases expected to expand coverage to additional areas.

Service Delivery Mechanism

Customers who have registered for the service will receive Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) or modems that will be shipped directly to their registered addresses. Once the network is activated in their area, subscribers can immediately start using the service without additional hardware costs.

Addressing Digital Infrastructure Challenges

This initiative addresses a critical need for improved digital connectivity in Indonesia, particularly in rural and non-urban areas where traditional internet infrastructure has been lacking.
