The Indonesian government has announced a significant policy shift in healthcare access through the introduction of a BPJS Kesehatan debt forgiveness program. Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, revealed that the program will be launched by the end of 2025 and expanded nationally in January 2026.

1. Debt Forgiveness Mechanism: Participants can re-register and have their arrears automatically cleared
2. Automatic Re-activation: Membership will be reactivated upon successful registration
3. Government Sponsorship: The government will cover the outstanding debts of participants
4. Multiple Registration Channels: Available through online platforms, BPJS offices, and public service malls

Implementation Strategy

The program will be rolled out in two phases:

1. Pilot Launch (End 2025): Initial implementation with specific focus groups
2. National Expansion (January 2026): Full-scale rollout across Indonesia

1. Online registration through Mobile JKN app or BPJS website

3. Digital payment of initial premium using virtual account
