Indonesia to Revise Minyakita Distribution Rules

New Distribution Mechanism

Indonesia's Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, has announced plans to revise the distribution rules for Minyakita cooking oil through a new Ministerial Regulation (Permendag). The revision will involve state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in the distribution process, with Bulog and ID Food being the key players. At least 35% of Minyakita distribution will be mandated to be handled by these BUMN.

Implementation Timeline

The minister targeted finalizing the revised regulation before the 2025-2026 New Year holiday season. The harmonization process is expected to be completed by Thursday, after which the Permendag will be signed. This timeline is crucial as it will help ensure better distribution of cooking oil during the peak demand period.

Price Stability Measures

Budi Santoso also addressed concerns about staple food prices during the upcoming holiday season. He assured that prices are currently under control and stable, with most commodities priced below the Highest Retail Price (HET) and the Reference Selling Price (HAP). To maintain this stability, the ministry plans to coordinate with suppliers and distributors in the coming week.

The decision to involve Bulog and ID Food in Minyakita distribution marks a strategic shift in managing essential commodity supplies. By leveraging state-owned enterprises, the government aims to create a more controlled and equitable distribution network.
