Zulkifli Hasan, Indonesia's Minister of Food Affairs, announced that the prices of basic necessities have begun to stabilize across Java and Sumatra islands. The stabilization is attributed to sufficient stock availability of essential commodities. According to Zulkifli, a visit to traditional markets revealed that beef was selling at Rp130,000 per kilogram, eggs at Rp29,000 per kilogram, and chicken at Rp38,000 per kilogram. Notably, red chili prices have decreased significantly to Rp45,000 per kilogram from Rp60,000 per kilogram previously.
The minister's observations were made during a visit to traditional markets in Semarang City. The price checks showed that rice was being sold in the range of Rp14,000 per kilogram. These price levels indicate a positive trend in controlling inflation of basic commodities, which is crucial for maintaining economic stability.
The stabilization of basic commodity prices is expected to have a positive impact on household expenses and overall economic conditions. With key staple foods and ingredients becoming more affordable, consumers are likely to experience a reduction in living costs, potentially boosting disposable income and consumer spending.
