Indonesian Government's Free Mudik Program Takes Shape for 2025

The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has launched its annual mudik program for 2025, allowing citizens to travel home for the holidays free of charge using trains. What's unique this year is that participants are permitted to bring their motorcycles along without incurring any additional costs. The registration process for this program commenced on December 1, 2025, and will continue until the available slots are filled.

Travel Period and Routes

The free mudik train service will operate from December 23 to December 30, 2025. The transportation ministry has planned two main railway routes for this service: the northern route and the southern route. The northern route will cover Jakarta Gudang-Pasar Senen-Bekasi-Cirebon Prujakan-Tegal-Pekalongan-Semarang Tawang, while the southern route will traverse Jakarta Gudang-Pasar Senen-Bekasi-Cirebon Prujakan-Purwokerto-Kebumen-Kutoarjo-Lempuyangan-Purwosari.

This initiative is part of the government's efforts to ease the travel burden on citizens during the peak holiday season.
