The Indonesian Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) is introducing a new tax administration system called Coretax for the annual Personal Income Tax (PPh) reporting process starting from the 2025 tax year. This modernized system aims to streamline tax reporting and improve data accuracy.
To utilize the Coretax system effectively, taxpayers are required to activate their accounts and obtain an authorization code/electronic certificate. Failure to do so may result in difficulties when reporting annual tax returns and fulfilling other tax obligations. Sugiarti, Head of Cooperation and Public Relations Section at the South Jakarta DJP Regional Office, emphasized the importance of activating Coretax accounts promptly to ensure seamless tax reporting in January.
The process of creating a Coretax account is designed to be user-friendly and can be completed online without visiting a tax office. Taxpayers who already have a DJP Online account and have linked their National Identity Number (NIK) with their Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) can easily reset their password through the Coretax portal. The system guides users through the necessary steps, including email or mobile number verification and accepting terms and conditions.
To facilitate the transition to the new Coretax system, the DJP has organized special assistance services at designated locations, including the lobby of Bank Mega Building and Transmedia on December 16-17, 2025. These services will be available from 09:30 to 17:00 WIB, providing taxpayers with direct support for account activation, data updates, and basic consultations without needing to visit a tax office.
The implementation of Coretax represents a significant step in Indonesia's tax administration modernization. While it introduces new requirements for taxpayers, it also promises enhanced efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting. Taxpayers are encouraged to take proactive steps in activating their accounts and familiarizing themselves with the new system to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
