Repatriated Workers Reveal Forced Cybercrime Operations

Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Department revealed that nine Indonesian migrant workers repatriated from Cambodia were victims of human trafficking. The workers were coerced into operating as online scammers and administrators for illegal online gambling platforms. According to Brigadier General Moh Irhamni, Director of Certain Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Department, the victims suffered physical abuse while being forced into these cybercrime operations.

Investigation and Prevention Efforts

The Indonesian authorities are now investigating these cases thoroughly to identify the masterminds behind these human trafficking operations. The police statement came after concerns were raised about Indonesian citizens being lured abroad with false job promises only to be forced into criminal activities. The government is working to prevent further exploitation of Indonesian workers abroad by strengthening international cooperation and improving protection mechanisms for migrant workers.
