The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has witnessed substantial growth in its derivatives and structured products market. As of October 31, 2025, derivatives transactions reached 11,729 contracts, representing an 84.4% increase from 1,829 contracts at the end of 2024. Similarly, structured warrants transactions surged to Rp 2.1 trillion by December 11, 2025, marking a 203.9% rise from Rp 691 billion at the end of 2024.
Jeffrey Hendrik, Director of BEI's Development Division, attributed this remarkable growth to the exchange's proactive strategies. "We've been conducting extensive educational activities and competitions in collaboration with brokerage firms to enhance investor awareness and understanding," Hendrik explained. These efforts have yielded significant results, with transaction volumes showing substantial improvement.
Looking ahead, Hendrik revealed plans to expand the underlying assets for derivative products in the coming year. This strategic move is expected to further boost market activity and provide investors with more diverse trading opportunities. The continuous development of new products and policies by the BEI is creating a more vibrant and dynamic derivatives market in Indonesia.
The growth in derivatives and structured products indicates increasing sophistication among Indonesian investors and a maturing financial market. As the BEI continues to introduce new products and educational initiatives, the market is likely to attract more participants, both institutional and retail, thereby enhancing overall market liquidity and depth.
