The Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) is currently examining potential regulations to limit the increase of e-commerce administrative fees. According to Temmy Satria Permana, Deputy for Small Enterprises at the ministry, they have been mandated by the Minister to draft specific rules governing these fees.
At present, there is a notable absence of clear regulations regarding e-commerce commissions from key government bodies such as the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the Ministry of Trade. This regulatory gap has prompted the UMKM ministry to take proactive steps in assessing the situation and considering appropriate measures.
The potential introduction of regulations capping administrative fees could have significant implications for e-commerce platforms operating in Indonesia. These platforms may need to adjust their fee structures and business models to comply with any new rules implemented by the government.
Temmy Satria Permana, when approached by Kontan in Kudus, Central Java, on Friday (19/12/2025), acknowledged that the ministry is indeed studying the matter. He mentioned that they are aware of the specific figures involved, indicating a thorough examination of the current fee structures employed by e-commerce platforms.
