Clarification on Japek II Selatan Toll Road Travel Time

Dody Hanggodo, Indonesia's Minister of Public Works, has provided clarification regarding the expected travel time between Jakarta and Bandung using the Jakarta-Cikampek II Selatan (Japeksel) toll road. The minister acknowledged that while the new toll road will indeed reduce travel time between the two major cities, he disputed the specific claim that it would cut the journey to just 45 minutes.

Technical Details of Travel Time Calculation

According to the minister, the 45-minute travel time estimate is only applicable between the Jatiasih and Sadang toll gates. This clarification was made during a meeting at the Lemhanas office in Jakarta. Dody emphasized that the actual travel time between Jakarta and Bandung will be longer than the frequently cited 45-minute figure. The minister confirmed that the Ministry's Badan Pengatur Jalan Tol (BPJT) is currently working with the toll road operator, Waskita, to determine the precise travel time benefits that the new infrastructure will provide.
