The Indonesian government's rice distribution program through Stabilisasi Pasokan dan Harga Pangan (SPHP) has made significant progress but remains below target. As of December 2024, the program has distributed 784,152 tons of rice, achieving 52.8% of the annual target of 1.5 million tons. The latest distribution recorded was 8,067 tons on the final day of reporting.
Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, CEO of Perum Bulog, acknowledged that the distribution faced challenges due to uncertain distribution schemes earlier in the year. This uncertainty affected the overall progress of the program, making it difficult to achieve the full target. However, the government is working to improve distribution for the remaining period of 2025.
The government aims to maintain a consistent distribution mechanism throughout 2025 to avoid similar disruptions. With 47.2% of the target remaining, efforts are being intensified to ensure the successful completion of the program. The total distribution is expected to pick up in the coming months as the logistics and planning improve.
