The Indonesian venture capital industry recorded a significant profit of Rp474.4 billion in the third quarter of 2025, according to the Financial Services Authority (OJK). This positive financial performance was primarily driven by the increased valuation of investment portfolios. Agusman, OJK's Executive Head of Supervision for Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions, and Other Financial Services Institutions, stated that the venture capital industry remains selective in disbursing funds amid various challenges faced by the startup ecosystem.
The industry has adopted a cautious approach, focusing on startups with sustainable business models. This selective strategy reflects the current market conditions where investors are more inclined towards later-stage investments due to their more established business models and financial stability. Eddi Danusaputro, Chairman of the Indonesian Venture Capital Association for Startups (Amvesindo), noted that investors are currently favoring more mature companies as they offer greater security in terms of proven business models and financial health.
Despite the challenges, both OJK and Amvesindo remain optimistic about the venture capital industry's prospects for the remainder of 2025. OJK projects that venture capital financing will grow by 3-4% by the end of the year. As of September 2025, venture capital financing stood at Rp16.29 trillion, representing a slight decrease of 0.24% month-on-month but a 0.25% year-on-year increase. The total assets of the venture capital industry reached Rp26.76 trillion, marking a 2.33% YoY growth from Rp26.15 trillion.
The venture capital industry's profit has shown a consistent upward trend since February 2025, when it recorded a profit of Rp137 billion. The profit continued to rise to Rp183 billion in March, Rp315 billion in June, and finally reached Rp474.4 billion in September 2025. This growth trajectory indicates a recovering industry that is adapting to the current economic landscape.
