The DKI Jakarta government has announced plans to demolish monorail pylons on Jalan Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta on January 14, 2025. PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk, the state-owned construction company, has come forward claiming ownership of the structures. According to Adhi Karya's Corporate Secretary Rozi Sparta, the company possesses legal documentation supporting their ownership claim.
Adhi Karya's ownership claim is based on two key legal documents: a court ruling from 2012 (Decision No. 296/Pdt.G/2012/PN.JKT.Sel dated October 22, 2012) and a legal opinion from the State Attorney's Office (No. B.354/G/Gph.1/08/2017 dated August 16, 2017). These documents, according to Rozi Sparta, legally establish Adhi Karya's ownership of the monorail pylons located along Jalan Rasuna Said and Jalan Asia Afrika in Jakarta.
As of January 13, 2025, Adhi Karya is engaged in ongoing discussions with the DKI Jakarta government regarding the planned demolition. Rozi Sparta confirmed that the company is still in talks with the provincial government, stating, "Hingga saat ini ADHI bersama Pemprov DKI masih melaksanakan pembahasan bersama lebih lanjut," which translates to "Until now, ADHI is still conducting further discussions with the DKI Provincial Government."
The situation highlights the complex relationship between state-owned enterprises and government infrastructure projects, particularly when it comes to legacy assets from abandoned projects like the Jakarta monorail. The outcome of these discussions will likely set a precedent for how similar situations are handled in the future.
