Key insights and market outlook
PT MRT Jakarta is constructing its deepest station at Sawah Besar with 28m depth and Indonesia's first multi-level tunnel as part of MRT Phase 2A CP202. The project is 60.2% complete and features a four-level structure including B1 concourse level and B2/B4 platform levels. The complex design eliminates the need for pedestrian bridges by providing underground crossing facilities.
PT MRT Jakarta's ongoing MRT Phase 2A CP202 project between Harmoni and Mangga Besar has reached 60.2% completion. The most complex component is the Sawah Besar Station, featuring Indonesia's first multi-level tunnel design. The station will be constructed 28 meters underground with a four-level structure: B1 (concourse level), B2 and B4 (platform levels), and B3.
The B1 concourse level will serve as the main access point where passengers can perform tap-in/tap-out transactions, recharge cards, and access various facilities. More importantly, it will function as an underground pedestrian crossing, allowing people to move between the east and west sides of Jalan Gajah Mada without needing to use surface-level pedestrian bridges.
Division Head of Project Management for Construction (PMC) 1 MRT Jakarta, Sony Desta, explained that the civil construction work is nearly complete, with remaining tasks focusing on core structure completion and installation of mechanical and electrical systems starting next year. The multi-level tunnel design required sophisticated engineering to accommodate both the station and MRT tracks at different levels.
