Jasa Marga Reports Significant Traffic Increase During New Year's Holiday

Traffic Volume Analysis

PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR) has reported a substantial increase in traffic volume returning to Jabotabek during the New Year's holiday period. Between January 1-3, 2026, a total of 324,208 vehicles were recorded entering Jabotabek through four major toll gates: Cikupa, Ciawi, Cikampek Utama, and Kalihurip Utama ³

. This represents a 16.24% increase compared to normal traffic volume of 278,918 vehicles.

Distribution by Direction

The traffic distribution showed that the majority of vehicles (45.59% or 147,817 vehicles) came from the east direction (Trans Java and Bandung), with 71,614 vehicles from Trans Java through Cikampek Utama (up 29.60% from normal) and 76,203 vehicles from Bandung through Kalihurip Utama (up 32.17% from normal) ¹

. Vehicles from the west (Merak) totaled 90,590, which was actually 8.28% lower than normal traffic. Meanwhile, 85,801 vehicles came from the south (Puncak), marking a 27.62% increase from normal levels.

Broader Traffic Trends

The traffic data during the Nataru period (December 18, 2025 - January 3, 2026) showed that 2.63 million vehicles left Jabotabek, representing an 11.49% increase from the normal volume of 2.36 million vehicles. For vehicles returning to Jabotabek during the same period, the total reached 2.47 million, an 8.01% increase from normal levels ¹

Preparations for Peak Return Traffic

Jasa Marga's CEO, Rivan A. Purwantono, has announced that the company anticipates peak return traffic on January 4, 2026. To manage this, Jasa Marga has implemented various preparatory measures including:

1. Enhanced operational services to maintain smooth traffic flow
2. Traffic management at potential congestion points
3. Increased personnel and support facilities
4. Coordination with law enforcement for potential traffic engineering
5. Public advisories to avoid peak travel times

Regional Traffic Patterns

The increased traffic was not limited to Jabotabek. Jasa Marga Nusantara Tollroad Regional Division reported an 8.2% increase in traffic volume across various regional toll roads between December 18, 2025, and January 2, 2026, compared to normal levels ²
