This proactive measure is part of JBT's efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow during the peak holiday season.
PT Jasamarga Marga Bali Tol (JBT), the operator of Bali's toll roads, has implemented a significant infrastructure enhancement by activating 2 additional Automated Toll Booths (GTO) at the Benoa Gate. This strategic move, effective since December 22, 2025, is designed to address the anticipated surge in traffic during the 2025 New Year holiday period.
The Benoa Gate typically processes an average of 28,000 transactions daily under normal conditions. However, during peak holiday seasons like Nataru, the traffic volume significantly increases, often leading to congestion. In anticipation of this challenge, JBT took proactive measures by installing and operationalizing 2 new GTO units.
The installation process for the additional GTOs began in early December 2025 and was completed within a span of approximately three weeks. According to I Ketut Adiputra Karang, the CEO of JBT, the decision to add more GTOs was made to prevent potential queues and ensure a smoother traffic flow at the Benoa Gate.
The introduction of these new GTOs is expected to significantly enhance the operational efficiency of the Benoa Gate. By increasing the toll gate's capacity to handle higher transaction volumes, JBT aims to minimize delays and improve the overall travel experience for commuters during the busy holiday period.
