KAI and Kemenhub Address Flood-Related Rail Disruptions

Operational Impact and Response

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is actively working to restore rail operations following severe flooding in multiple locations along its railway network. The flooding has resulted in the cancellation of 34 train journeys ¹

. KAI's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that operational decisions are being made based on technical assessments and weather conditions.

Collaborative Recovery Efforts

The Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) has deployed a CC300 locomotive to assist in the flood-affected areas, particularly between Pekalongan and Sragi stations ²

. As of Monday morning (19/1/2025), water levels between KM 88 and KM 89 in the affected section have shown signs of receding.

Safety Measures and Service Restoration

Despite the receding water levels, DJKA Director General Allan Tandiono emphasized that safety measures remain in place. Train speeds are being limited to a maximum of 30 km/h in both directions to ensure safe passage ²
