The KAI Group has transported 413.867.221 passengers from January to October 2025, representing an 8.15% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth reflects increasing public trust in rail-based transportation. The group includes services such as long-distance trains, KAI Commuter, LRT Jabodebek, airport trains, and KAI Wisata. Meanwhile, freight transport rose 0.69% to 57.556.900 tons, with coal being the largest commodity at 47.77 million tons.

The passenger numbers encompass various services including long-distance and local trains, KAI Commuter, LRT Jabodebek, airport trains, KAI Wisata, LRT Sumsel, Whoosh by KCIC, and the Makassar-Parepare railway.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), emphasized that rail-based transportation offers greater efficiency compared to road transport, particularly in terms of carrying capacity, operational orderliness, and emission reduction. "Rail-based logistics distribution is more efficient and environmentally friendly. This approach is crucial in building a modern transportation system that supports economic growth across all regions," AHY stated.
In addition to passenger transport, KAI also recorded a 0.69% increase in freight transport to 57.556.900 tons during the January-October 2025 period. Coal remained the largest commodity at 47.77 million tons, followed by cement, containers, fuel, plantation products, fertilizers, and retail goods. KAI's Vice President of Public Relations, Anne Purba, noted that the transportation of coal ensures a stable energy supply for power plants and industries, aligning with the government's focus on strengthening energy resilience.
The growth in both passenger and freight transport demonstrates KAI Group's significant contribution to Indonesia's mobility and economic development. The increasing reliance on rail transport reflects its importance in supporting national infrastructure and economic objectives.
