MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani has raised concerns about the recent severe flooding in Aceh and Sumatra, suggesting that illegal logging might be a contributing factor. The observation was made after numerous reports and images showed significant amounts of timber floating in the floodwaters.

"If it is true that there was unregulated logging, then it certainly could be one of the causes that made this disaster worse," Muzani stated during a press interaction at the Presidential Palace on December 2, 2025.
