NHM Provides Critical Humanitarian Aid to North and West Halmahera

Swift Response to Natural Disaster

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) has demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility through its NHM Peduli program by providing immediate humanitarian assistance to communities affected by recent floods and landslides in North Halmahera (Halut) and West Halmahera (Halbar). The relief efforts, conducted from January 9-12, 2026, were carried out in multiple stages across various affected regions.

Comprehensive Aid Distribution

The aid distribution was carefully planned and executed to reach communities in need. On January 9, NHM Peduli delivered essential food packages to seven villages in West Kao District, including Pitago, Bailengit, Soamaetek, Parseba, Toguis, Toboulamo, and Takimo. The following day, the distribution continued in Galela and Loloda regions. The aid was adjusted based on urgent needs identified during an emergency coordination meeting with the North Halmahera Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

Tailored Assistance for Specific Needs

The relief package included a range of essential items such as sanitation equipment, baby supplies, generators, and lanterns to address the immediate needs of displaced communities living in areas with limited electricity and infrastructure. In Galela Utara and Loloda Utara, the aid was distributed in coordination with local authorities. Additional support was provided in West Halmahera's Ibu District on January 11, 2026.

Community and Government Appreciation

The swift and comprehensive response by NHM Peduli received widespread appreciation from both local governments and affected communities. Officials from Toguis Village, Soamaetek Village, and Ibu District expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance. The aid was particularly valued as it reached remote areas that were difficult to access due to the disaster.

Long-term Recovery Support

In addition to immediate relief, NHM also provided longer-term recovery support. On January 12, 2026, water pumps were distributed to Togawa and Tutumaloleo villages in North Galela to help clean contaminated wells. This ongoing support demonstrates NHM's commitment to helping communities recover and rebuild after the disaster.
