Pelni Offers 20% Discount on Economy Class Tickets for Nataru 2025/2026

Government-Mandated Discount Program

PT Pelni, Indonesia's state-owned shipping company, has announced a 20% discount on economy class tickets during the 2025/2026 New Year holiday period (Nataru), which runs from December 17, 2025, to January 10, 2026. The ticket sales for this discounted period began on November 21, 2025.

Program Details and Budget Allocation

This discount program is based on a joint agreement between the Minister of Transportation, Minister of Finance, Head of Regulatory Body, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and Head of BPI Danantara, signed on October 28, 2025. The total budget allocated for this program is Rp 24.81 billion, benefiting 405,881 passengers.

Implementation and Significance

According to Presda Simangasing, VP of Non-Commercial Passenger Business at Pelni, this is the first time the company has been assigned by the government to provide a discount on ticket fares during the Nataru period. The discount of 20% off the base fare does not include insurance and port costs. This initiative aims to make travel more affordable for passengers during the peak holiday season.
