Pertamina Cracks Down on Misuse of Subsidized Fuel

Blocking Vehicles with Suspicious Activity

Pertamina Patra Niaga has taken decisive action against the misuse of subsidized fuel by blocking 394,000 vehicle registrations that were found to be engaging in suspicious buying patterns. This move is part of the company's efforts to ensure that subsidized fuel (Solar and Pertalite) reaches its intended recipients. The decision was announced by Mars Ega Legowo Putra, CEO of Pertamina Patra Niaga, during a meeting with Commission VII of the DPR on November 17, 2025.

Implementation of QR Code System

To enhance monitoring and control over subsidized fuel distribution, Pertamina has implemented a QR Code system for transactions at gas stations. This system has shown significant results in reducing fuel misuse. According to Mars Ega, the QR Code system has led to a noticeable decrease in the consumption of Solar and Pertalite by October 2025.

Positive Outcomes and Future Plans

The implementation of these measures has yielded positive results. By October 2025, the consumption of subsidized Solar fuel was under 10% of the allocated quota, while Pertalite consumption was around 10% lower than the target for 2025. These figures indicate that the measures taken by Pertamina are effective in controlling subsidized fuel distribution. Pertamina Patra Niaga has also conducted training for 544 gas stations throughout 2025 to ensure compliance with the new system.

The QR Code system not only helps in identifying fraudulent activities but also aids in the overall management of subsidized fuel. By blocking vehicles involved in suspicious transactions, Pertamina aims to minimize leakage and ensure that the subsidized fuel benefits the intended users.
