Pertamina Enhances Oil Production with Advanced CEOR Technology

Strategic Move to Boost National Oil Output

PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), a subsidiary of Pertamina, has successfully commenced operations of the chemical enhanced oil recovery (CEOR) technology in the Minas Field Area A. This significant development is projected to contribute an additional 2,800 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) starting from 2026. The implementation of CEOR technology is a crucial step in Pertamina's efforts to maximize oil recovery from mature fields and support the national target of achieving 610,000 BOPD by 2026.

Technological and Economic Implications

The CEOR project in Minas Field not only enhances daily production but also potentially unlocks more than 800 million barrels of additional oil reserves from the Rokan Block. This substantial increase in recoverable reserves could significantly extend the production life of the mature Minas field, currently producing around 28,000 BOPD.
