Key insights and market outlook
PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) has successfully revived the LD-10 well in the Lima Field, achieving a production rate of 1,097 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) with only 6% water content. This was accomplished through a Workover and Layer Change (KUPL) operation targeting the L-30 and L-29 formations. The success demonstrates PHE ONWJ's commitment to enhancing oil production and supporting national energy independence through meticulous planning and disciplined execution.
PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) has successfully completed a Workover and Layer Change (KUPL) operation on the LD-10 well in the Lima Field, located off the north coast of West Java. The well, which had been inactive for 6 years, has been revived with an impressive production rate of 1,097 BOPD and a low water content of 6%.
The KUPL operation targeted the L-30 and L-29 formations (Main Formation) in a new compartment in the northeast area of the Lima Field. The target selection was supported by detailed petrophysical evaluation and analysis, which identified new potential based on comparisons with other structures in the field. The production test was conducted using gas lift injection, a method used to enhance oil flow when natural reservoir pressure is insufficient.
According to Rachmat Hidajat, Director of PHE ONWJ, this achievement demonstrates the company's commitment to increasing oil and gas production to support national energy independence. The success shows that with proper planning and disciplined execution, new opportunities can be found even in mature assets. This revival contributes to Indonesia's energy security and showcases PHE ONWJ's technical capabilities in maximizing production from existing fields.
